CIP-Pool in the Physics Department
This site is currently under construction. The version in German may be more up to date.
Welcome to the CIP-Pool in the Physics Department
The CIP-Pool is located next to the rooms of the advanced lab-course on the 1st floor of building part B2, entrance 00.724 (directly in front of the passage to the lecture halls). It offers 50 workstations running common standard software (LibreOffice, Firefox), data analysis software, LaTeX, computer algebra systems (Mathematica, Maple) as well as development tools (gcc, Matlab, Octave etc.). In addition, there are 20 more CIP-Pool workstations in the Physics group library.
The servers of the CIP-Pool Physik can also be reached from outside, read more here.
Wintersemester 23/24 – What changed?
With the reorganization of the CIP-Pool 2023, the storage will be transferred to the RRZE. This changes the file structure in the CIP-Pool as follows:
home
is the RRZE-LINUX home. It is limited to 2GB for students and 10GB for employees. The RRZE-LINUX home is encrypted and therefore suitable for storing sensitive data. Furthermore, it can be accessed from other RRZE-Clients (and from some other CIP-Pools).- Your old files are provided read-only. How you can find them and copy them to the new file system is explained here. We will provide the old data for you for a transition period of a few months – after that we will shut down the file server and the data will no longer be accessible.
- If you need more space for files than the 2GB/10GB in your
home
, you can use your newdata
directory. How you can access this directory is explained here.
