Printing and Scanning
Printing
The CIP Pool in the Physics Department has two printers ciprox
(Xerox ColorQube 8870) and ciplex
(Lexmark CS521). ciprox-sw
and ciplex-sw
are the same devices in black and white mode. The consumables for the printers are financed by student grants. To prevent abuse by individuals, there is a print quota:
- 500 units/semester for each physics student
- 50 units/semester for students from other disciplines
Black and white prints are charged at 1 unit, color prints at up to 5 units.
You can see your remaining print quota at https://cipresse.physik.uni-erlangen.de/cgi-bin/druckquota. (Query only possible in the CIP network; the database entry is only created with the first print job sent.)
If you want to cancel a print job or view the status of a print job, you can do so at https://cipresse.physik.uni-erlangen.de:631/jobs/.
Further information on printing:
- Printing directly from the browser often causes problems. It is better to download the file and print it from a PDF viewer, for example.
- Please do not print long documents at once, but divide them into smaller print jobs so as not to block the printers for everyone else. Print jobs over 50 pages are automatically rejected.
- If you have any problems with the printers (missing consumables, error messages, etc.), please write to us at admins@cip.physik.uni-erlangen.de
Scanning
A scanner is connected to the two computers cip100
and cip101
(1st side room, by the window) each. To use it, you can use various installed scanning programs (simple-scan, iscan, gscan2pdf, xsane), which can be found in the menu under Applications/Graphics. The use of gscan2pdf is recommended in conjunction with the swipe scanner on cip100.
