Access to the CIP from remote
Login via the terminal: SSH
The computers in the CIP-Pool can also be accessed from the Internet via Secure Shell (ssh). You can log in on ciphon, ciphiidae and ciphiinae (e.g. ciphiidae.physik.uni-erlangen.de
) as well as on the clients if they are switched on (e.g. cip014.physik.uni-erlangen.de
). This means that your files can be accessed and the software on the CIP computers can be used from remote.
Instruction:
Run e.g. ssh ab01cdef@ciphon.physik.uni-erlangen.de
in the terminal and enter your password.
Login to graphical interface: X2Go
For more complex graphical programs we have two X2Go servers, ciphon and ciphiinae. In order to connect to it, you need an X2Go client, which can either be found in the package management of your preferred operating system or for download. It is also installed on the CIP clients.
Data for the session („Session Preferences“):
- Host: ciphon.physik.uni-erlangen.de
- Login: Your IdM username, e.g. ab01cdef
- Session type: XFCE
